Come stay where the wind blows free, the coyotes sing a chorus, and the sweet scent of sage perfumes the air!  Steens Country Cabin is nestled at the base of Andrews Rim (14 miles north of Fields on East Steens Road) where it commands sweeping views of the Alvord Desert, Steens Mountain, Alvord Peaks, Pueblo Mountain and the Trout Mountains.

Recreation in the area includes hiking, hunting, photography, rock-hounding, hot springs dipping, fishing, star gazing, bird watching, sight-seeing, opal digging, and wildflower and wild life viewing. 

The area is abundant with deer, antelope, coyotes, wild horses, big horn sheep, birds and many other species of wildlife.

The Alvord Desert is a delight for land sailors, ultra-light pilots and balloonists.

Enjoy a spacious two-bedroom, air-conditioned cabin, with private entrance, large private bath, fully-equipped kitchen (complete with dishes and utensils), and roomy living area with CD/DVD player--all decorated in western lodge style.  Each room includes a ceiling fan and separate heater. Bring your lunch and dinner supplies and simply move in!  A light continental breakfast (coffee, teas, juice, cocoa, rolls) is provided.
